It seems that today every magazine and newspaper article is promoting the latest exercise method and philosophy for burning fat and helping all of us to keep our weight down. It is a known fact that regular exercise has been proven to help people shed their extra pounds, but this case is not quite that simple. A person may have excess weight for a number of reasons. It is essential to target the particular circumstances before assuming that methods of burning fat are going to be the answer.

One of the few things to keep in mind is that water retention or excess carbohydrates and sugars can all cause a person to be heavier than their ideal weight. In those instances, it is obvious that focusing on burning fat rather than reducing the intake of the real offender is not going to be effective in helping to lose weight.

It always seemed strange to me that some lucky people who never seem to have trouble maintaining an ideal weight while others struggle constantly trying to shed their extra pounds. If two people are eating identical foods and taking the same amount of exercise, there has to be a difference in the way that their bodies deal with the fat intake. And surprisingly enough - there is a difference. One person has a higher metabolic rate than the other person does. Specifically, it is their fatty acid metabolism that is the key factor. Quite simply, their body is more effective at breaking down the fat intake from their diet into other products that the body needs and the fat is not retained as excess weight.

Unfortunately there are a few people who may actually be suffering from a fatty acid metabolism disorder that prevents their body from being able to break down the fat effectively. This can only be treated using medical intervention. These disorders are relatively rare and for most people who have a low fatty acid metabolism rate, there are two potential solutions.

The first is to increase your overall metabolic rate that includes the fatty acid metabolism. The most successful method for the majority of people is to increase the amount of regular cardiovascular exercise that you take. This is especially important as you get older because your natural metabolic rate slows down. Any effective cardiovascular exercise raises the heart rate. These include cycling, swimming and fast-paced walking. Just thirty minutes a day taken three times a week can have a huge impact on your body's metabolism.

Of course, it is not only increasing the metabolic rate that is going to lead to weight loss. In fact, everyone has a base metabolic rate that continues even when he or she is sleeping. There is another factor that needs to be taken into consideration and that is the amount of calories that you consume. The body does need some calories in the form of fats to enable the body to convert them into other products, but as already mentioned, too many can be stored as excess fat and this translates into excess weight. Therefore, to help achieve and maintain your ideal weight, you need to restrict your calorie intake and increase your fatty acid metabolism to ensure that your body is burning fats at its optimum rate.

What is fat? Does it serve a purpose? If you ask many on the street , they would assuredly tell you that fat is "bad" and that they need to get rid of theirs. While one can certainly possess too much fat, it does play a vital role in our daily lives and is misunderstood to say the least.

Both dietary fat and stored fat are necessary for survival, but it needs to be understood that dietary fat is certainly not the cause of excess stored fat.

In chemical terms, fat can best be defined as any group of natural esters of glycerol and various fatty acids that are solid at room temperature. This description best applies for saturated fats, but unsaturated fats are fats too. However, they are essentially the same ester groups of glycerol, only they are liquid at room temperature.

Fats play a large role that is often underplayed by those within the fitness community. Fat cannot be lived without. Fat serves as insulation for our internal organs. The heart, kidneys, and other organs are surrounded by adipose tissue which helps not only to protect them from injury, but to hold them in place as well.

Fat is also vital for the breakdown of the vitamins A, K, D, and E. In summation, fat is truly important for daily functions, which is why are bodies need a bare minimum of 12% for women and 7% for men. It protects our organs, regulates body temperature, nourishes our skin and helps fortify our bones, without which we'd be most certainly be dead.

Like millions of men and women, I started resolving to exercise more and lose the weight for good. Months later, I haven't been to the gym any more frequently than last time I resolved to lose weight and exercise. Why not? I meant well. I had the best intentions. But according to experts I failed because I didn't have a plan.

Studies in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that people with action plans were more likely to perform goal-driven behavior, in my case, exercise. But you must know, This isn't as easey as just writing down "Lose weight and exercise more."

Its a process you must go through, really think about what you want. Using the following questions, you can create your own exercise action plan.

WHAT ARE MY GOALS?

There are five specific things you should keep in mind when writing down all of your goals.

1. Make your goals specific, and don't say you need to say you will. For example: "I will lose 10 pounds."

2. Make them measurable. Take a before picture. Post it on your fridge and everytime you go for a midnight snack you are staring yourself in the face! Trust me, this helps.

3. Set short term and long term goals. Be sure to write those down. Write down 5 goals for each long and short term goal.

4. Set deadlines. You cannot lose 50 pounds in 50 days. Set realistic timelines so they can keep you from getting discouraged. Give yourself a week to lose 1 to 2 pounds.

5. Write down your emotional reason for staying on track. Find out what makes you tick. Is the the thought of wearing what you want, or is it feeling great and looking good? Find out and write it down.

Figure out "How often can I work out and how much time can I spend?"

If you want to stick to yor plan be realistic about the amount of time you can spend. Even if it is only 20 minutes, so be it. Make those 20 minutes count as best you can. Devote yourself to that time.

What do I have available to me?

Ask yourself if you are going to attend a gym or if you have aerobic videos collecting dust. Maybe invest in some dumdbells to use with those videos. Do whatever you have to do to be successful.

Apply these guidelines and you will be on your way to weight loss success. So get started!

Show me a female who can sincerely admit that she is happy with her appearance in every way. Someone, who wouldn't change a thing about herself/himself even if it was as easy as just wishing it. Unless that person is a bold one living-on-some-mountain monk, I don't think that that kind of person exists.

Our physical shape is dictated to us as well as anything else is: dress according to the latest fashion, date the coolest guys (also make sure your parents like them), read the right books, eat the right food. What is the right food, I wonder. Do you open your refrigerator and a carton of milk jumps out of it into your lap, screaming: "I am good for your heath! Drink me!

Many people who choose to go on some form of diet have no idea what they need to do to burn calories. Burning calories is the only weight to lose those unwanted pounds. There are many things that you can do to burn calories every day. Below are some of the ways that you can burn unwanted calories to make weight loss that much easier.

1. Increase Your Metabolic Rate: Metabolic rate is the rate at which your body burns up calories. If you burn off the same number of calories that you consume daily then your weight will stay the same. Therefore increasing your metabolic rate will enable you to burn off more calories than you consume daily, thus speeding up the rate at which you lose weight.

2. Build Muscle: Increasing the amount of muscle in your body will help you burn calories. For every extra pound of muscle you put on, your body uses around fifty extra calories a day. This is due the fact that muscle is metabolically active and burns more calories.

3. Move More: The more active you and the more you move around then you are sure to burn more calories than you normally do on a daily basis.

4. Eat Spicy Food: Research has shown that spicy foods, namely chilli, can raise your metabolic rate by up to 50% for up to three hours after you've eaten a spicy meal.

5. Aerobic Exercise: Sustained high-intensity exercise makes you burn more calories for several hours.

6. Eat little and Often: There are some evidence to suggest that eating small, regular meals will keep your metabolism going faster than larger, less frequent meals.

Are you tired of trying different diet plans, with no positive results? Turn to South Beach Diet. This is not a traditional low-carb plan. What makes it different is that here you'll be encouraged to choose the right carbs like whole grains, certain fruits and vegetables and right fats like olive and canola oil and lean sources of protein. When you eat bad carbohydrates and fats you tend to feel hungrier and thus you end up eating more causing weight gain.

Good carbohydrates: They have a low glycemic index so they can be digested and absorbed slowly. They are high in fiber or high in good fats. You should also eat fiber or fat to slow digestion of the carbohydrates. Good fats: They are polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, especially those with omega-3 fatty acids. Saturated and trans fats are bad fats.

How does it work?

South Beach Diet was created a well known cardiologist, Dr. Arthur Agatston. He developed this diet for his cardiac patients after a lot of scientific dieting research. The best thing about this diet is that you will get your three, normal size meals everyday and you can even enjoy your snacks and deserts. In just a short amount of time you will see incredible results. So you can not only enjoy your favorite foods but you can also put your fear of getting fat to rest.

According to Dr.Agatston, when you consume bad carbohydrates especially those found in foods with a high Glycemic index, they create an insulin resistance syndrome which is an impairment of the hormone insulin's ability to properly process fat or sugar and not only this, bad carbohydrates also increase the chances of getting cardiovascular disease.Therfore his diet includes the consumption of good fats and good carbohydrates.

The three phases South Beach Diet:

This diet works in phases, the first two for a specific timeframe and the third phase for life.

Phase I -You will eat normal-size portions of lean meat, fish, eggs, reduced-fat cheese, nonfat yogurt, nuts, and plenty of vegetables including snacks and desserts. This will last for two weeks. You would have to high or moderately high-glycemic carbs so that you eliminate insulin resistance .This way the body will lose its insulin resistance, and thus use excess body fat, causing the dieter to lose between 8 and 13 pounds.

Phase II- Whole grain foods and fruits will be reintroduced in your diet, although in smaller amounts than were likely eaten before beginning the diet, and with a continued emphasis on foods with a low glycemic index. You should continue to lose weight until you reach the desired weight. Phase III- This begins when you reach the desired weight. Here you will continue to make good eating choices which would include three servings of whole grains and three servings of fruit a day.

Effective way to lose weight:

This diet puts emphasis on changing your way of eating and variety of foods. It discourages eating of very refined processed foods, high-fat meats, and saturated fats in general. Agatston says that you should eat until you are satisfied and you do not have to count calories. You just have to eat the right food that is good carbs and fats. By decreasing the intake of bad carbs, it will help you metabolize what you eat more effectively and improves insulin resistance as well leading to weight loss

Diet Pills

Taking diet pills is definitely not an effective weight loss strategy, because as soon as you stop taking them, all the weight you lost will return with a vengeance, because…

Most diet pills are nothing more than drugs which act as appetite suppressants, and the side effects can be devastating or even deadly so it's not a good way to lose fat.

Most of them will usually act as effective appetite suppressants, which means that you won't be hungry and will stop eating. Of course you are going to lose some weight, but…

When you are not eating, you are on a starvation diet, and your body responds by slowing down your metabolism, because it is being deprived of essential nutrients which it needs to survive.

Eventually, you have to stop taking the pills or you'll die. When you do stop, your hunger will return with a vengeance, because your body is trying to replace the nutrients it's been lacking, and just look at the…

Side Effects of Diet Pills

Many of these diet pills are addictive and some of the side effects are high blood pressure, liver irritation, headaches, dizziness, sexual difficulties, increased heart rate, diarrhea, and even death, plus…

Guaranteed, you'll regain all the weight you lost and then some, because now your metabolism is much slower than before, so in other words…

Diet pills make you gain weight in the long run, and also, just look at the harm to your body from both the starvation and the side effects.

That's too high a price to pay for temporary weight loss. Instead…

Replace Diet Pills with Supplements For healthy weight loss!

Healthy supplements are much better than diet pills for healthy weight loss. Also, supplements make a safe appetite suppressant without slowing down your metabolism, and… Make Diet Pills Obsolete!

People take diet pills in order to stop eating, but eating is required for survival. The reality is that you need to stop eating the junk foods, however…

That's a lot easier said than done, as you are craving food because your body is asking you for nutrients which is not in the food you're eating. The reality is that…

You can never satisfy your cravings, without giving your body "what it is craving".

Healthy Supplements Satisfies Your Cravings

When you take the right kind of supplements, your body becomes more nutritionally satisfied, which greatly decreases your cravings, so you'll lose some fat, without slowing down your metabolism, and you won't regain all the weight you've lost.

But here's the problem…

Not all Supplements are Created Equal

In order for your supplements to be an effective appetite suppressant, you need to take only "Quality Supplements" that your body can actually absorb, because…

When you take most vitamin and mineral supplements for example, it's common knowledge that your body will only absorb about 4 to 5% of the nutrients in them.

It doesn't seem to matter if you buy your supplements from a drugstore, a health food store, or if they are prescribed by a doctor.

What's the point in spending money for supplements, if your body can't absorb them, or if the nutrients you body is lacking is not in them to begin with?

Most people take lots of supplements, but they are still craving food all the time, and that means…

The supplements which you are taking are not making you nutritionally satisfied; otherwise you wouldn't have all those cravings and keep gaining fat.

Breakthrough Super Supplements

In the Slim and America Weight-Loss Project, we only recommend supplements which are absorbed by the body, otherwise what's the use?

Over the years we've come across a variety of different supplements which will affect different body functions, and just recently, we've come across a line of super supplements which act as effective appetite suppressants, because…

They are being fully absorbed by the body, and therefore making the body more nutritionally satisfied, otherwise, the cravings would remain.

Not only are our students who are taking these supplements eating a lot less, but they are also reporting a lot more energy, and a lot more stamina to get through the day.

The net result is…

Faster weight loss

Faster and safer weight-loss results are now possible without slowing down your metabolism, so that more effective fat burning takes place 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Weight loss that stays off!

Everybody is different, so the trick is for you to find the supplements which will give you the best results. Today there are many supplement manufacturers who have top quality products, however…

There are many others, who make misleading claims for products that are not only totally useless, but some can also be very dangerous to your health, so how can you know for sure what's best for you?

The answer is simple: if the products solve your problem, "Great", if not, they're a waste of money and you should get your money back.

If you take a good comprehensive general supplement and are eating at least reasonably healthy, you'll become more nutritionally satisfied and it should take a lot of your food cravings away, otherwise you are not absorbing them and they are a waste of your hard earned money.

Becoming more nutritionally satisfied is the only way to get rid of food cravings in order to lose weight permanently.

Diet pills on the other hand, work exactly the opposite and slows down your metabolism 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so…

Only a natural weight loss system together with healthy and effective diet supplements is the answer to staying permanently slim, fit, and healthy.

Isn't your health your greatest asset?

Not only is losing weight in a healthy way, "real easy" once you know how, but more importantly…

The weight stays off!!!

What's the point in losing and regaining the same 20 or 30 lbs. over and over again? That's what happens when you slow down your metabolism by taking diet pills, instead of losing the fat the right way to begin with,.

Why Not Lose It 4 Life

Only by following a safe and easy system like the Slim America weight-loss program, will you be able to burn the fat much faster, and lose the weight for the rest of your life, so diet pills are just not an option.

Everywhere we look in the western world we are inundated with pictures, images, icons and inferences of the 'perfect' female shape! The truth is that many of these images are altered or enhanced in some way and do not depict the typical female form. The pressure to lose weight is immense when we are bombarded every day with media selling products based on slimness, sex appeal and fashion. The constant message is that slimness will make you desireable.

With the current demographic trends in western countries, and faced with a sea of high fat, high sugar combined with physical inactivity; it is time to pay attention to our weight but not for any reasons of desirability. The most important reason for wanting to be a healthy body weight is for health rather than for how your body looks.

Overweight and obesity are major public health problems in western countries. Since the 1980s both adult men and women have become heavier, with obesity rates more than doubling in the last 20 years! Children are also becoming heavier. There is a growing concern that we are inadvertently training our overweight children to become obese adults. It has been said, we are digging our graves with out teeth! So just why should we be concerned with achieving a healthy body weight?

Overweight linked with diabetes.

In January 2003, the Journal of the American Medical Association featured two studies that highlighted the topic of obesity and its impact on health. The first study focused on the relationship between obesity and diabetes, as well as the growing concern of diabetes in the U.S. between the years 2000 and 2001. The numbers don't look good, with an alarming 5.6% increase of obesity in both men and women-from all ethnic groups, age ranges and educational levels. The occurrence of diabetes also increased-up 8.2% from 2000.

Overweight linked with premature death.

The second study found that obesity appears to markedly lessen life expectancy, especially among young adults. The researchers compared Body-Mass Index (BMI) to longevity and found a correlation between premature death and higher BMIs. For example, a 20-year-old white male, 5'10" weighing 288 pounds with a BMI of greater than 40 was estimated to lose 13 years of his life as a result of obesity. Findings were similar for women with higher BMIs, who were estimated to lose an average of eight years. While these studies reference extreme levels of obesity, there are still millions of overweight people in developed countries with a life expectancy rate that is three to five years less than their healthy-weight counterparts. Overweight linked with heart disease.

Overweight people tend to have higher blood pressure and higher blood cholesterol, which are major risk factors for heart attack and other blood vessel disease. Being overweight can contribute to problems in the joints, and is also associated with other serious diseases such as diabetes.

How you tell if you are overweight

As we are all different shapes and sizes, there is not one recommended weight for your height. Instead there is a range of weights that are healthy for your height. One way to check your weight is to calculate your Body Mass Index or BMI.

Your BMI is a ratio or comparison of your height and weight expressed in a number. To find out your BMI you need to divide your weight (measured in kg) by your height (measured in m) squared. If you do not know your measurements in the metric system you can find any number of BMI calculators online that will do the conversion for you into empirical measures. One such calculator is at the website listed below.

The accepted definitions of weight categories by BMI are:

Underweight - BMI less than 18.5

Healthy weight - BMI between 18.5 and 24.9

Overweight - BMI equal to or greater than 25 and up to 29.9

Obese - BMI equal to or greater than 30

These BMI values only apply to adults aged 18 years and over and are based on studies of Caucasian populations. Therefore, they are not applicable to children and adolescents and they may not be appropriate for people of other cultural backgrounds.

Another way to check your weight is to measure your waist circumference, using a tape measure. This gives you an idea of whether you have a lot of fat stored around your middle. Waist circumferences associated with increased health risk are:

For men Waist circumference greater than 94cm

For women Waist circumference greater than 80cm

Being a healthy weight can help:

- improve blood cholesterol levels, blood pressure and blood glucose levels

- reduce your risk of other health related problems

- improve self confidence and self esteem

- make it easier to be physically active.

If you are obese or overweight

An anti obesity medication should work on obesity not on obese. If this statement is ambiguous for you then give me a chance to explain it in a clear manner. Most of the anti-obesity medications are made up of synthetic salts and give side effects to the body of the user. May be these medications are successful in weight loss quickly but these medications generates addiction. Moreover many harmful long term side effects are associated with them. While using these medications you involuntarily become a subject of drug trial. With these medications weight loss instead of being a beneficial becomes harmful for the body. Therefore, a completely side effects free medication whose reliability is tested years of use should be used for weight loss.

Only medications which are made up of herbs and herbal extracts fit on this criteria. Hoodia appetite suppressant is made up of a natural extract of Hoodia Gordonii plant. Its reliability is tested in the usages of medication for centuries. Hoodia gordonii plant is found in the Kalahari Desert of Africa, where San Bushmen have been using this medication for centuries. They never felt any harmful side effect of the medication.

Hoodia appetite suppressant also fit with modern standard. After rigorous research the prime appetite suppressing element of Hoodia plant have been isolated by drug manufacturing company Phytopharm. This element is known as P-57 and its efficacy and safety is tested with high standards. This element is synthesized in production of Hoodia diet pills and capsules. It is also used in manufacturing of Hoodia health drinks.

Appetite suppressant Hoodia increases the level of blood sugar. The brain of user takes this increase as fullness of the stomach. Hypothalamus, the control gland of the body is too influenced with Hoodia, not to take any action for taking food. Thus, the user of Hoodia diet drug does not eat excess food. The temptation for food is almost vanished even in a gourmet.

The volume of Hoodia diet pill and Hoodia capsule is 1200mg. Clinical studies have established this is the optimum volume of Hoodia for suppression of appetite for 24hours. A capsule or pill of Hoodia daily is the general dosage of Hoodia medication. The capsule or pill should be swallowed with a glass of plain water. Since 1200mg is the optimum value of the medication therefore overdosing of Hoodia is strictly prohibited.

There is no need to get doctor's prescription for using Hoodia appetite suppressant but a doctor must be consulted before starting its use. Purchase Hoodia through an online order. An online order for Hoodia brings the medication at your doorstep at a cheaper rate. Now, achieve weight loss with Hoodia without putting yourselves on the verge of side effects.

If you are like everyone else who has hit rock bottom with their

weight struggles, and have declared that this day will be the

first day of your diet, then this article is for you. To often

it seems that most dieters jump on the weight loss boat, yet

fail to bring along a months pass. Instead, they are usually on

the boat for a couple of days, or maybe a week at best.

We all have the motivation to lose weight and look good. Some of

us even diet for medical reasons. Whatever reasons motivate you

to lose weight, hold onto them. To many of us fall victim to

that one cheat day, or that one hour where we fall off the boat

and can't get back on. My experiences with people just like that

have shed some light on that missing element that makes people

fall prey to losing their diet focus.

Consistency. Motivation is directly tied to dieting through

consistency. If we feel that we are not seeing results based on

our diet after a few days, or if we hit a plateau soon into the

program, then we start succumbing to inconsistent eat habits. We

eat whenever, usually whatever, and feel like crap afterwards.

Sure, it absolutely feels good giving in and munching up what we

have been starving our bodies throughout the diet, but usually

what happens later is that we feel bad emotionally about what we

just did and how hard we worked to avoid this behavior in the

first place.

By getting it into our heads at the outset of the diet, that

this process is a marathon and not a sprint, then we can

reinforce our consistent dieting patterns and thus stay

motivated to stay on the diet. We even get more motivated when

we start seeing results. How do we see results?

Yep. By being consistent in our diet methods.

Whether it is drinking a gallon of water religiously throughout

the day (which reminds me, I need to get up from this computer

and do just that!) or eating 5 small meals through out the day

at certain times, these events lend themselves to helping you

stay consistent.

What you will notice after several months of doing this, is that

your mental resolve to stay on the diet is incredible. Much

stronger than what you started with. Another result you will see

is that by altering your body's eating habits and forcing your

metabolism to process certain foods at certain times, the pounds

come off at a faster rate. This, my friends, is the desired goal

in ANY diet. Stay healthy and stay consistent. I'm rooting right

along with you!
